Biography

Dr Kaushal Kumar Sharma has done his Doctorate from Delhi University in the field of Agriculture Transformation and Rural Development. Teaching and Research experience is 33 years. Presently he is working as Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University in the Centre for the study of Regional Development and also the Coordinator for “Centre for Excellence in Tribal Studies”, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. Many distinctions in academics. Very widely travelled across India. The areas of research is on integrated field of social sciences mainly focusing on rural communities and their sustainable livelihood. He is also looking at the Natural Disaster in Himalayas and their impact on Agriculture and Human Migrations. Along with my friends I have developed FOUR MODEL villages in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh part of Himalayas. I have adopted 35 villages in Uttarakhand (Himalayan State in India) for Ecological Restoration Programme. My association is with Department of Science & Technology, University Grants Commission, Government of HP and MP, THDC India Ltd, NHPC, Power Grid, Power Finance Limited, Mazagaon Dock Limited and NBCC Ltd etc (Government Corporations). I am providing consultancy to many national and international NGO’s and private sector companies.

Research Interest

The areas of research is on integrated field of social sciences mainly focusing on rural communities and their sustainable livelihood.
